If you’ve been researching our ADR process, you’ve likely come across the phrase ‘Participating Member’ dozens of times… And been left wondering:
What is a Participating Member, and why is it important?
Well, not to give you too many spoilers, but the concept of a Participating Member is actually essential to how AviationADR works – and to figuring out whether your complaint is eligible for our scheme.

Don’t worry… It’s not as complicated as it sounds. Let’s get into it!
By the way, if you have an unresolved airline complaint…
If you’ve hit a wall with an airline or airport, AviationADR offers a FREE, independent route to a resolution – approved by the Civil Aviation Authority to settle disputes between passengers and Participating Member airlines and airports across the UK and EU.

What does ‘Participating Member’ mean?
In short, at AviationADR, a Participating Member is an airline/airport that has agreed to engage with our scheme and follow our Scheme Rules, which includes being legally bound by our decisions.
This allows you to escalate your complaints about them with us, for free!

Our Participating Member airlines/airports have agreed to become part of our scheme, as they recognise the benefits of AviationADR giving passengers access to amicable, hassle-free dispute resolution for air-travel complaints – out of court.
That’s also why we call them ‘Participating’ Members… They’ve agreed to partake in our process!

Why is the concept of a Participating Member important for passengers?
So, now you know what we mean when we say an airline/airport is a Participating Member of AviationADR… But why should it matter to you, as a passenger?
Something important to note about AviationADR is that we can only accept complaints about airlines/airports that are Participating Members of our scheme – as these airlines/airports are the ones who have agreed to be bound by our decisions.

But don’t worry! With over 20 airlines and airports currently partaking in our scheme, we’ve likely got you covered.
What if my airline/airport is not a Participating Member of AviationADR?
If the airline/airport you have a complaint about is not a Participating Member of AviationADR, they may be part of another ADR scheme.
However, not all airlines/airports choose to use ADR to resolve complaints.
Make sure to search online to definitively find out whether they participate in any ADR process!

Who are the Participating Members of AviationADR?
As aforementioned, AviationADR currently has over 20 Participating Members, spanning a diverse array of airlines and airports, such as:
> Easyjet
> Ryanair
> Wizz Air
> KLM
… And more!
As much as we’d love to list them all for you here… That would take all day.
